The Gayatri Mantra holds special significance in Hindu mythology as it forms a part of many religious texts. It first appeared in the Rig Veda and is also mentioned in many classics such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Manusmriti.
It is said that this mantra was created by Guru Vishvamitra and is revered by devotees all over the country. The mantra is often chanted during the Janehu ceremony of young men in accordance with Hinduism.
The Gayatri Mantra was named such because it was composed in the Vedic meter that is known as Gayatri. It is addressed to Savitri who is said to be the Goddess of the five elements that together form the human body.
